Information for Staff
Spring Bank Camp cannot operate without the hard work of the enthusiastic and dedicated team of volunteer staff members who do everything from ensuring that participants are safe while abseiling to re-filling the toilet rolls.
The minimum age to apply for a staff role is 14yrs. Details of the roles available are below. If you have any questions about any of the staff roles here, please contact staff admin or the team manager for the team you are interested in applying for.
Camp Fee: £5.00
Staff Catering Fee: £30.00
This is for the central catering facility at camp. This is an optional add-on for your staff booking. You are of course welcome to make your own catering arrangements for the weekend.
The central camp staff at Spring Bank are identifiable by their bright red t-shirts and orange neckers. If you require t-shirt(s), or you want one of the orange neckers for your own...

Visitor access to Spring Bank Camp is restricted. If there are specific people who need to come to visit you during the camp for particular reasons, please let us know.

**PLEASE NOTE**
This role is only available to members of the Archaeology SASU.
As a member of the activities team, you will be responsible for the safe running and supervision of a range of activities on a rotation basis over the weekend. This could include low ropes, assault course, water slide, inflatables, canoe roll, and large games.
This role is ideal for anybody over the age of 14, wanting to experience a variety of activities over the weekend. All necessary training will be given during the camp by competent activity leaders for each area.

This is an ideal role for someone who has experience delivering Air Rifle Sessions within Spikes Building at Drum hill and would like to now support the Spring Bank Camp by leading the team on this exciting and busy camp activity.
Anyone in this role with receive support and guidance on camp from the Drum Hill Air Rifle Shooting Team Leader.
Looking to take on responsibility for an activity and lead a small team on a busy camp activity then this may be an ideal role for you.
Experience and permits (or training for permit) for delivering Archery is essential for this role. For a new volunteer to this role, guidance and support will be provided during the weekend from the Drum Hill Archery Team Leader.

Craft Team Leader
Team Leader for Circus Skills
An exciting role for a Scout permitted and/or qualified (SPA) Climbing and Abseiling instructor to oversee and lead a team of up to 10 Instructors on Drum Hill's purpose built tower. All equipment and site induction will be provided by Drum Hill Activity Manager.
This is a great role ideal for someone who would like to develop their skills in leading a team of volunteers.
This role is open to all Scouting and Guiding members with the appropriate permits and/or NGB award.

Team Leader to run the Tomahawk Range for the weekend. Full Training will be given for this role, unless you have already completed the Tomahawk training course.
Trek Carts Team Leader
This role is open to all Scouting and Guiding members. Experience is an advantage but not essential as any new volunteers to the activity will be invited join the Drum Hill Air Rifle shooting team to gain experience before camp.

The Arts & Crafts team run a number of different activities for the camp within the Craft Village. Team members will rotate around the different crafts on offer and be expected to help where needed within the Craft Village.
For this role, you will help to run activities and aid campers in creating their own arts and crafts. A flair for Arts and Crafts is helpful, however not mandatory! We'd love to welcome you to the team!
Fancy sharing your own circus skills with young people or trying something new and exciting. The circus team is the place to be. A great drop in activity in the main Marquee for everyone to come and have a go at anything from Juggling and poi to riding a unicycle.
This is ideal for anyone who like to do something a bit different and enjoying teaching young people new skills in a fun environment.
All equipment is provided but if you have any special skills yourself feel free to bring these along and wow the campers.
A great opportunity for those who would like to both learn new skills and develop their current climbing and abseiling instructing skills. This activity is a very popular over the weekend and sees hundreds of young people testing the nerve on the climbing wall or going down the 30ft Abseiling face. All instructors are rotad between the two activities over the weekend.
This role is open to all Scouting and Guiding members. Experience is great but not essential as a training day will be organised before the camp for any new people.
Team Member for Crossbows

Roles are preferentially given to members of the Fencing SASU.
We are looking for enthusiastic people to be part of a small team who will safely run the Knife and Axe skills activity for the weekend. Full safety briefing will be given by the Team Leader, but a bit of experience in this kind of activity would be preferable.

We are looking for a small, friendly team of people to run our Campsite Cafe.

The Campsite Cafe will be a welcoming area for Leaders and Staff to come and get a cuppa and a piece of cake throughout the weekend. Tea and Coffee will be provided for free to Leaders and Staff, with the option to purchase a piece of cake.
The cafe will also be the location for a few drop-in Q/A sessions for leaders and so will be a central point over the weekend.

The social media team will be a small team of two people working together to keep the Spring bank media up to date over the course of the event and shortly after. This year we want to extend our social media presence from Facebook to other platforms that the kids and parents are likely using. Over the event weekend the team members you will be responsible for going out around the site and capturing picture and video footage, a small amount of editing and then posting (or live broadcasting!) the media so that parents can track the event as it goes but then also kids can look back at it all post event.
To be a member of the E&E team you will be required to bring bags of enthusiasm, energy and a hard working attitude as the team will be on the go from morning till dusk.
The team provide a range of games, stalls and on and off stage entertainment throughout the weekend, but it's not all about being on the stage or on a microphone, rather ensuring the young people enjoy the games and entertainment provided in a fun but safe manner. If you do have any talents, stage skills or stage experience please provided information about this in your application.
Essential qualities include: teamwork, good communication skills, creativity and the ability to put a smile on peoples' faces no matter what.
In return for being part of this team we will provide you with the opportunity to be part of a friendly team, work with like minded people who have the opportunity to interact with the majority of campers throughout the weekend. Above all you must come with the attitude to have and bring fun.
As a First Aid team member, you will be accountable for carrying out first aid treatment to both staff and participants. The cover is provided during the day activity and evening event sessions. The team is based out of a static location on site however dependant on the type of injury, you could be reporting anywhere around Drum Hill. All members of the team need to hold a qualification that is both Scout/Guide recognised and in date. You will also need to be comfortable enough to be able to coach and teach your skills to under 18 team members who are on the team.
As a First Aid under 18 team member, you will be required to assist in providing first aid treatment to both staff and participants. The role is created in the attempt to assist you in building both confidence and skills in providing first aid care to large scale events. As an under 18 staff member on camp you will only be required to provide cover during day activity sessions and then if desired you will be free to partake in the evening events put on by the sub camp team. The team is based out of a static location on site however dependant on the type of injury, you could be reporting anywhere around Drum Hill. All under 18 members of the team need to be able to provide evidence of receiving recent Scout/Guide first aid training. Be this part of DofE / YL training or other national recognised qualification.
The Reception Team is the public face of the Camp during the weekend. We are here to answer questions and queries, deal with lost property and register all arrivals and departures. We are especially busy at Group arrivals/check-in. We work a flexible shift pattern over the weekend as Reception is open from 8.30am to 10.00pm. For this role, you need to have patience, be comfortable using a computer and be welcoming and polite at all times. Camp uniform (T-shirt and necker) must be worn when on duty.

As a Team Supervisor, your role will involve the crucial responsibilities of overseeing and guiding the team throughout your shift, as well as promptly addressing any safety calls or situations that may emerge.

They will receive comprehensive training both prior to and during the event to prepare them for their roles.

The role of the Site Services Co-Ordinator is to support the Site Services manager and other Site Services positions in the service delivery for Spring Bank Camp.
You will be responsible in conjunction with the Site Services manager for the allocation of general tasks to the majority of the Service Team during the event.
This will be via a rota which you will have prepared prior to the weekend in conjunction with the Site Services manager.
The Site Services Team are responsible for all the infrastructure that relates to Spring Bank Camp and the Campsite as a whole.
We start some 2 days out from the camp getting things ready from electricity in the marquee to siting the temporary toilet blocks.
During the camp, we do a wide range of jobs from cleaning the toilets, helping the other teams get ready for the start of activities and of course clearing the rubbish up.
The U18 Sub Camp Team are there to look after any under 18s camping in the sub camp. Typically, they are camping without any leaders and so the U18 Sub Camp becomes a pseudo group for the weekend. You'll be helping to provide entertainments and activities for them, as well as help them out if they have issues over the weekend.
